- Official sources first: we rely on government agencies (such as USDA, HUD and VA), the 211 network and the official websites of national nonprofits.
- Plain language: steps you can follow today, with what to bring and what to expect.
- Dates and updates: programs, hours and offers change. Each guide shows when it was last updated, and we revise seasonal guides (like Veterans Day deals) every year.
- No paid placement in help listings: charities and programs are never ranked for money.
