The Union Rescue Mission operates three different ministries – Dorcas House, Nehemiah House- Men’s Recovery Center, and Transient Lodge. All of your donated monies fund all of these ministries. However, your donated items will generally stay at the ministry of your choice. The only time this is not the case is if one facility runs out of a needed item, such as bleach, pine sol, laundry detergent, etc.
All three facilities have basic household needs, such as toilet paper, paper towels, bleach, cleaning supplies, laundry detergent, soap, shampoo, tooth paste, tooth brushes, deodorant, razors, combs, and brushes. If your church, school, or civic organization has gathered items to donate to one or all of our facilities, then please contact Michelle Scroggins at 501-370-0808 or mscroggins@urmission.org.
Be sure to check our Ministry Needs Blog Category for our current list for each facility…
Notice: We recently have received a surplus of items that are not usable either through wear and tear or expiration. We would like to remind our faithful in-kind donors that this ministry allows the people we serve to meet Jesus – often for the first time. They see the donations that enter our facilities, and most of the time they are overwhelmed by the generosity they see. Some feel unworthy that people would think so much of them to send such nice things. However, when stained, torn, broken, and unusable items are donated, it can reaffirm their own feelings of worthlessness as humans – that no one will treat them with the respect that Jesus so longs for them to have as His children. So please make a conscious effort to examine all items before donating them to our facilities. We are ever grateful for the kindness this ministry is shown on a daily basis, but we also want to represent Jesus in all areas of this ministry – no matter how subtle it may be.
