FEEDING THE MULTITUDES
The Union Rescue Mission will give away 500 boxes to the hungry/disadvantaged of Arkansas on the Tuesday before Thanksgiving.
We need churches, schools, and civic organizations to gather canned goods on our needs list and/or to make monetary donations to Feeding the Multitudes.
Churches, Schools and Civic Organizations can also:
Designate a number of food boxes that they will need to feed the identified needy of their own congregations.
Church members can contact Michelle Scroggins at 370-0808 on and after September 13th in order to volunteer for the various activities. Volunteers will be taken on a first come first serve basis. It is important for all interested in volunteering to call on or close to the 13th to try to obtain a spot. Volunteers must commit to what is identified as their area of interest.
The Union Rescue Mission will pick up donations; however, if those collecting are willing to bring the donations to 3000 Confederate Blvd. at our Men’s Ministry Center, it will greatly assist us. Collection of food items will be scheduled with each church, school, or civic organization for a time convenient for them from Monday, November 1st through Friday, November 11th with the 11th being the last day that we can pick up donations from churches, schools and civic organizations. Scheduling donation pick-ups must be completed by Tuesday, November 8th. Monetary donations are also needed to assist in purchasing the turkeys for the food baskets.
Volunteers
1) Union Rescue Mission will begin scheduling volunteers on September 13th.
2) Sorting and packing of food boxes will occur on Saturday, November 19th in two shifts. Please contact Michelle Scroggins at the corporate office at 370-08088 for the packing location. The first shift will work from 9:00-9:30 am, and the second shift will work from 10:30-11:00 am. A minimum of 16 volunteers are needed for each time slot.
Volunteers (continued)
3) The food boxes will be passed out on Tuesday, November 22nd from 9:00-12:00 to those in the community who have signed up. Volunteers will need to be available from 8:30 am until 1:00 pm at Agape Church in West Little Rock. Twenty (20) volunteers are needed to assist in the distribution of the food boxes. Men are especially needed to help pass out boxes to those who will be receiving the food boxes.
4) If you are interested in serving at the GREAT THANKSGIVING BANQUET on Thanksgiving Day at 3000 Confederate Blvd, please contact Michelle Scroggins at 370-0808. The first 12 volunteers who contact the mission will be able to serve. Volunteers are needed from 10:00-1:00.
5) The Thanksgiving Meal will be served at the Dorcas House from 11:00-12:00. We will only be able to accommodate 10 volunteers at the Dorcas House during the GREAT THANKSGIVING BANQUET. Men who are interested in serving at the Dorcas House must be married and accompanied by their wives due to the Dorcas House being a shelter for women.
VOLUNTEERS need to commit to attending, serving and being on time.
