Box Prep Day
Saturday, November 20 - 10:00 a.m. to noon & 1:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m.
It’s once again time for the Union Rescue Mission’s Box Prep Saturday. This volunteer event is held annually the Saturday before Thanksgiving. With the help of Mission employees, two groups of volunteers will assemble all of the food boxes that will be distributed to the needy of Central Arkansas the Tuesday before Thanksgiving. Last year we assembled 804 food boxes, and this year we’re anticipating the need for more. We have two shifts available for Saturday, November 20. Shift A is from 10 a.m. to noon, and Shift B is from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m. Note that two hours are allotted for the assembling process, but the full time is rarely needed.
This event is not for the slow-paced. When we start, you will not sit down until we’re finished; but the time flies by quickly. You’ll not even realize it’s been more than an hour. This is an extremely organized event, and it goes smoothly. You’ll have so much fun you won’t even realize you’re working.

Feeding the Multitude Box Distribution
Tuesday, November 23, 9:00 a.m. to noon
Our annual Box Distribution will take place this year at Agape Church in West Little Rock from 9:00 a.m. to noon. Volunteers are expected to be there no later than 8:30 a.m. so the area can be set up and job assignments can be made. We will need approximately 20 volunteers to make this event a success. We will distribute more than 600 food boxes during this time, so please plan on staying busy the entire time.

Great Thanksgiving Day Banquet
Thanksgiving Day, Thursday, November 25
The Mission’s annual Thanksgiving Day Banquet offers two different volunteer opportunities. The first is at the Transient Lodge from 10:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. Volunteers are expected to be at the Mission at 3000 Confederate Blvd. no later than 10:00 a.m. to help prepare for the Thanksgiving meal and to stay after the dinner is served to help clean up. The second opportunity is at the Dorcas House from 9:30 a.m. until noon. Volunteers will arrive by 9:30 a.m. to assist with food preparation, serve, and clean up. If you are male and would like to volunteer for this event at the Dorcas House, then you must be accompanied by your spouse, fiancé, or girlfriend to do so.
